yo im new to this but im tryin to get down have no clue what to do im a good fighter tho and thank god for that new patch

this tourney is gonna go down just like the last one ... 4 of the best fighters in the league will be at the end cuz it doesnt matter if its on the ground, on the feet, or anywhere in between the best players will come out on top ...

I want in BUT: I think many fighters will have a disadvantage with these rules. Let's take my fighter, Almeida: no standing strengths whatsoever, high takedown defense and offense (no need in K1), over 80 ground grappling (no need in K1) and near 90 sub off/def (no need in K1). Add my excellent ground striking off/def to that and you get a ground specialist, a BJJ master. Would you ask Gracie or Maia to enter a kickboxing tournament? No, and neither would you ask real life Almeida, he just CAN'T compete with no ground game.

If I'm FORCED to use Almeida, not only will I be slower and weaker than most fighters, my strike and kick def/off will have me at a disadvantage every time. In the clinch, Almeida is a rookie: no clinch grapple skills, no clinch striking def/off, no chance to escape before 5-6 shots. And I can't maintain the clinch myself because of the POOR clinch skills.

For a K1 tournament, we should be free to chose a fighter near our fighter's overall skills (85 in my case) to AT LEAST give a little chance to ground specialists. Let's say I pick Kampmann instead of Almeida: I now have, for the same overall rating, high clinch skills, high kicks, more speed, more strength, more chances to survive. With Almeida, if I can't go on the ground, I wont survive 1 round. And I'm not the only one with a ground specialist. I hope I'm not forced to use Almeida, I don't think I have ANY chances in a K1 tournament with him...

Nevertheless, if these are the rules, I WILL compete but I certainly wont get my hopes up. I only wish we will have a Abu Dhabi tournament after so I can easily dominate and get the belt without breaking a sweat, if you see what I mean...

Proposition: give us the choice between 3-4 fighters in the same overall rating range. PLZ...

I strongly disagree with that: Muay Thai fighters will have a TREMENDOUS advantage standing, while boxers and especially BJJ specialist will be like fish out of water. Like I said in my earlier post, I don't think I can beat ANYONE in a K1 tournament with Almeida:as a player, even if my stand up skills are good, my fighter WILL NOT be able to compete standing... Would I be the BEST stand up player, I wouldn't stand a chance with Almeida. Go check his stand up skills, you'll understand fast! Almeida is a ground specialist, his ONLY strengths are on the ground. I picked him for THAT specific reason. Because it's a MMA game and I can shoot for takedown ANYTIME.

Now, if the takedown is prohibited and I'm forced to use Almeida, I don't even see why I would want to enter the tournament! I wouldn't mind picking ANY other MW near to 85 rating, but NOT Almeida!!!! I want in anyway, but with Almeida, I'll just prevent the clinch, catch legs, stand up and run! What can I do, stand and fight? Lol, I can't take more than 5 shots to the head and I would need 10-15 shots to do the same damage to my opponent... No high kicks, no clinch defense, I'll be easy game, even if I consider myself a top player I just KNOW Almeida is no match to ANY and EVERY fighter in the game... For the stand up that is!

ok i have just a little issue with this. i have matt hughes and he does have pretty decent stand up but someone can pick a fighter who is less overall rating but has much better stand up. leaving me to be actually at a disadvantage understand?

underworld you're nuts saying muai thai fighters have a HUGE advantage, not without being able to use the thai clinch.. all they have is a high kick, and id trade that for a boxers hooks any day in a stand up fight... kickboxers are gonna prevail heree i believe... and if booxers can use the collar tie then we should be able to use the thai clinch.. im in but not really confident on this one

I though the clinch was allowed? IF it's not, I believe you're right, kickboxers will have the edge! Boxers too but BJJ masters will DFINITELY be the underdogs in a K1 tournament... Like I said, picture Almeida vs Kampmann in a stand up only fight. LOL! Or, Almeida vs Hendo. Or, Almeida vs Silva. Even chriscanucks' Matt Hughes is at disadvantage in a stand up war against ALL the WW roster. I hope we have more latitude in fighters we can choose, otherwise strong stand up fighters will destroy every one in their path. Lol, I would love to pick Rampage or even Bisping in a stand up war! Yeah, Bisping, with his boxing technique and his high kicks. Or Rashad, GSP, any Silvas, anyone but Almeida!!!

Even if the rules stay the same, I wont back out! I'm in, whatever the outcome!

I'll run around the cage and land stepping punches, back off, run again and land stepping leg kicks. I might be able to survive more than one minute that way! I don't expect to win, but I expect to give a fight!

hey underworld you dont have to "run" to do either of those moves ... you can to back to back to back stepping kicks by staying at striking distance and flicking the stick ... flick, kick, flick, kick, flick, kick ... i do this to noobs online all the time ... my fav is a double step kick combo into the stepping jab and then a takedown, it gets everybody all f'd up !!

I dont think thats a good idea at all, if anything this should level out some of the records in the OFC. It gives guys a chance who cant get past brock lesnar because no one matches up to his str/spd/crd. People shouldn't be so worried about their records here, join the tourney if you win you win, you cant win em all...
